I've just completed an entire week in Christchurch. It wasn't bad actually
In a nut-shell my 7 day stretch consisted of mild sunstroke, a homebrand visit to A&E (cheers for the TLC Nurse Mum), a plethora of gee-gees, Princess Anne verse tractors, a seahorse wedding and roast chicken with Yorkshire pudding. But I can't fool myself here, Christchurch is not always this much fun.

Saturday Movember 22nd
The Grey Lynn Park Festival Grey Lynn Park, Williamson Ave & Rose Rd, Grey Lynn No Charge. 9Am – 6pm
It's had a few ups and downs over it's 24 year history, a major downer in the past has been foul weather, regardless still have it as a firm plan in your diary. For me it's all about the varied music you're exposed to, the foreign food, interesting craft stalls and of course the people watching.
And/Or The NZ Ukulele Festival Mt Smart Stadium, Beasley Ave, Penrose No Charge. 10Am – 4pm
A day of concerts, demonstrations, workshops, food stalls, competitions and international acts. An excess of 1000 players will be strumming and singing at the concert where local groups will feature alongside international ukulele virtuosos, such as Australian Azo Bell and Rarotongan Chuck Upu. But the main act will be The Kiwileles, a massed ukulele orchestra made up of ukulele groups from over thirty Auckland schools. No doubt a highlight for them will be performing She’s a Mod with iconic New Zealand entertainer Ray Columbus.
And/Or Deep Hard & Funky Vector Arena, Mahuhu Cres. Auckland Central Tickets $35 - $120 from www.ticketmaster.co.nz. 9Pm – 6am
DHF is NZ's longest running and most successful dance party brand, obvious seeing they've chosen such an impressively large venue. Main drawcards for me are seeing The Bodyrockers and Vandalism playing live, also just the thrill of seeing thousands of party peeps in one place. Be warned, drinks aren't cheap here.

Monday Movember 24th
Movie Night: My Best Friend's Girl Most Cinemas Nationwide Tickets $9 - $16
A brilliant comedy, that had me laughing from start to finish. Dane Cook plays Tank, a professional “bad date”. Guys who’ve just been dumped by their girlfriends hire him to take their exes out, show them how vulgar other guys can be and hopefully send them scurrying back to their previous relationship. Jason Biggs plays Dustin, Tank's best mate, who's just been dumped. He enlists his buddy's unorthodox services, but doesn't count on his sassy and gorgeous ex Alexis (Kate Hudson) actually liking the obnoxious prick.

It’s do or die as six cute'n'geeky 12 year olds battle it out for glory in the spelling championship of a lifetime. This unlikeliest of hit musicals is chock-full with overachievers angst, bizarre and multi-syllabic words, romance, cliff hanging suspense and of course those nutty spelling mums.

Wednesday Movember 26th
Kraftwork (Live) The Auckland Town Hall, 303 Queen St, Aucland Central Tickets $80 - $110 from www.the-edge.co.nz. 8Pm – 11.30pm
They're a mega-influential electronica act from Dusselforf, Germany. Genre pioneers and directly responsible for Detroit techno. Their sound combines driving, repetitive rhythms with catchy melodies. The group's simplified lyrics are at times sung through a vocoder, or generated by computer-speech software. In the mid to late 1970s and the early 1980s, Kraftwerk's distinctive sound was revolutionary for its time, and it has had a lasting impact across nearly all genres of modern popular music. This is one show you definitely want to make the effort to see.
