Don't mention the war (I mean the rugby)
It was a week of B’s once again. But this time, blockbusters, basketball, boats, beaches, bisque, binging, ballet, burns, brawls, bazaars, broken-bones, bungys, bowls and boo-hoos. Click here to read my weekly wrap with all the details.
For those who haven’t been back to my website for a few days, we now have the full set of Caravan of Love photos. We’ve got two main galleries of images: “from Start to Warehouse party” and “from Stardome to Forte”. Click on the links to check them out.
And get amongst the big swag of prizes I have this week and of course my weekly events guide which outlines some seriously cool stuff that is happening in the next 7 days.

Cool Things To Win
1 x Double Pass to see the NZ Breakers do what the AB’s couldn’t; white-wash a lesser opponent, in this case it’s the Townsville Crocs. If you like basketball, pop “Breakers” In the subject line and mail me back. Please include your cell number, as I’ll call the winner Thursday morning.
3 x Ku De Ta, a DVD/CD compliation. A little like Café Del Mar, but Ku De Ta has taken the beach club concept to giddy new heights. Ku De Ta is one of the most exciting and beautiful places to have a party in the world. This release follows last year’s highly successful overseas release and has again been delicately crafted with soft, jazzy and sensual tunes. Expect Latin sounds and sultry vocals as you are taken on a winding musical journey. For more info, check out www.myspace.com/kudetamusic. To be in to win a copy, just reply to this email with "Ku De Ta" in the subject line.
3 x Double Passes to “Excess” at Met and Code this Friday. It’s one of Sydney’s biggest club nights, and now it’s here. It will be a pile-driving night of filthy house and dirty electro, from Australasia’s best turntablists. Put “Excess” in the subject line and mail me back to go in the draw.
2 x Double Passes to “Thank Funk It’s Friday”, held at the Bacco Room in Toto’s Restaurant complex this Friday. It’s a night of the best funk and hip-hop music around, featuring Tangent (a 10 membered soul-groove big band) and the Base FM DJ’s. Mail me back with “Thank Funk” in the subject line to be in the running.
2 x Double Passes to “Sundown”. It’s finally back, the best summer party series in NZ. If you like amazing times with amazing people enter in this draw. It’s at Stonyridge Vineyard on October 20th. To possibly win put “Sundown” in the subject line and mail me.
5 x Single passes to “Sleepless”, my first party at SpyBar. It’s still 3 weeks away (October 27th), but each day I’m making it better. If you’d like to be one of a handful on the free door-list then mail me back with “Sleepless” in the subject line.

Wednesday October 10th
The Cut (Opening Night) Silo Theatre, In the big carpark, Lower Greys Ave, CBD Tickets $20 - $35 from www.ticketmaster.co.nz 8pm
The Silo is a boutique theatre that must be experienced. When it’s combined with a gripping play, like “The Cut”, you are sure to have a captivating evening. The play provokes audiences to question their own responses to evil and guilt, and what it means to live in a world with a sombre/menacing vision for the future. It’s laced with wry humour, chilling accuracy and promises to grip audiences to the edge of their seats.

Friday October 12th
The Cellar Dance Party Mudbrick Vineyard, Church Bay Rd, Oneroa, Waiheke Island Entry $25 on the door. 6pm – 12am
I went to Mudbrick for the first time last weekend. It’s the gem in Waiheke’s crown when it comes to views, absolutely breathtaking. Best to catch the 5pm ferry and come to watch the sunset before getting some serious dancing and vino appreciation done.
And/Or Thank Funk It’s Friday Bacco Room, Toto’s Restaurant, 53 Nelson St, CBD Entry $10, on the door. 10pm – Late
The venue really matches the music and crowd well, so the atmosphere is welcoming. Not a ragey party but one with varying funk and hip-hop beats from international artists. Watch-out you may not leave till it’s light outside.
And/Or Excess Dance Party – Filthy House & Dirty Electro Met & Code Bars, Cnr Shortland and High St, CBD Entry $20, on the door. 10pm – 7am
Code’s been closed for ages, now it’s back better than ever. Tonight is launch night and the team they have over from Sydney will really do a number on us. NZ’s best will also be on the decks, so rest up and I’ll see you on the dance floor.

Saturday 13th October
Soniktonik’s 2nd Birthday Ink Bar, 268 K’Rd, Newton Entry $10, on the door. 11pm – 7am
I was at Sonik’s inception party, their 1st birthday and will now endeavour to get to this one. The Sonik crew are dedicated technoheads, and put on super-friendly parties with awesome vibes. Expect fat rolling bass-lines, fresh dirty techno and live vocals.
And/Or Stomp Fu Bar, 166 Queen St, CBD Entry $10 on the door. 11pm – 6am
I don’t promote this type of music, or this bar, often, but, I’ve been listening to some different tunes of late and DJ CXL and Penfold rock! Tonight they lay down the fattest R&B and Hip-hop on the planet.

Sunday October 14th
Avondale Market Avondale Racecourse, Ash St, Avondale No Charge. 6am – 12pm
It’s a blimmin’ good market that doesn’t get enough hype. It’s massive, cheap and has everything you could ever expect from a market.
And/Or Just Friends Jazz Masonic Tavern, 29 King Edward Parade, Devonport No Charge. 3 – 6pm
After a hard session on the turps, or at the Avondale market, come here and chill. Most of the guide getting crew only comes here when the “Sounds Of Summer” dance party is on here. If you come any other time it’s quaint, friendly and a great place to dread the inevitable Monday morningitis. Picture listening to live Jazz as you sip a cold one in the sun overlooking the ocean.
